Wholesale broking giant AmWins has launched two new MGAs focused the marine market – Amwins Specialty Logistics Underwriters (ASLU) and Sentinel Marine Underwriters (SMU).
Bermudian (re)insurer Argo will provide the insurance capacity for both ASLU and SMU. The policies will be issued on admitted paper and will be offered across all 50 states.
ASLU will be headed up by Alex Rosas who will lead the company from Sunrise, Florida.
The MGA will write an insurance package for freight forwarders and third-party logistics operators providing marine, cargo and transport liability cover.
It will also write logistics liability coverage, including shippers interest, ocean cargo, domestic transit, third-party warehousing, carriers legal liability, freight forwarders E&O and warehouse legal liability.
SMU, meanwhile, will be led by Mark Bernas and Keith Blair from Houston, Texas and New York respectively.
SMU will provide marine and cargo insurance cover for importers, exporters, manufacturers, and wholesalers.
SMU’s product offering includes worldwide cargo and transit, global stock throughput, project cargo, and excess storage on stock throughput programs.
“We are pleased to partner with Alex, Mark and Keith given their deep experience in the marine insurance segment,” Scott Purviance, CEO of AmWins said.
“Their product knowledge and underwriting expertise is industry leading,” he added.
Earlier this month AmWins appointed the former North American boss of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Bob Petrilli to lead its underwriting division.
