Brit Insurance has replaced former Lloyd’s CEO Richard Ward as the non-executive chairman of its managing agency with London market veteran Tony Medniuk.

The move comes following Ward’s decision to join UK broking house, Ardonagh Group, in an executive management role.

Medniuk, the former CEO of aviation managing general agent Global Aerospace, will take up the post on 6 September. He has been on the board of Brit Syndicates since November 2011.

Previously, he was chairman of Munich Re subsidiary, Great Lakes Reinsurance, between 2010 and 2016. He began his insurance career in 1970 with Marsh.

Ardonagh Group, the former Towergate Group, has been keen to bolster its management team following the departure of chief financial officer Mark Mugge earlier this year.

Ward joins Brit Insurance in September as executive chairman of specialty and international - the broker’s London wholesale businesses - and MGA.

Brit Insurance executive chairman Mark Cloutier said: “Tony has had a highly successful career and his knowledge and experience of managing Lloyd’s syndicates makes him the right person to step into the role of non-executive chairman of Brit syndicates”.

Cloutier added: “We would also like to thank Richard for his valuable contributions during his time as Non-Executive Chairman of Brit Syndicates and on the Board of Brit”.
