CNA Hardy has created a new business unit comprising existing healthcare and specialty line products across both the company and Lloyd’s market.

The segment will underwrite medical malpractice, technology, life science, cyber and financial lines.

The new unit will be headed by CNA Hardy veteran Rhonda Buege who has been with the carrier since 2002 when she joined its healthcare business in New York.

In 2007 she moved to London to build out the healthcare business across the UK and Continental Europe, later adding life science to her remit.

Buege took on responsibility for technology and cyber business in 2015, as well as launching the healthcare business on the Lloyd’s platform in London and Singapore.

In her new role she will report to chief underwriting officer Patrick Gage, overseeing the business unit in the UK, Europe, Canada and Asia.

“I am thrilled that Rhonda has accepted this widened role and am confident that under her stewardship the existing teams will go from strength to strength,” Gage said.

“Rhonda has significant experience and a proven track record of building profitable businesses and highly effective teams, having held numerous leadership roles during her career and I am delighted that we can leverage her underwriting expertise as well as her strong broker relationships across the globe to build out our proposition and capabilities in this manner,” he added.

“I am pleased to take on this new challenge at such an exciting time for our business,” Buege said.

“The merging of these two business units enables closer alignment of our existing specialty products and services with our customer proposition across the globe, whilst leveraging existing product synergies to drive improved underwriting performance as well as an enhanced customer experience,” she added.
