Aon has named one of its long-standing servants and the former CEO of its financial services group - Brian Wanat - as chief broking officer for US commercial risks solutions.

The promotion will see Wanat take direct management responsibility for US property and casualty, aviation, crisis management marine and global risk consulting, as well as his old domain, financial services.

Aon said Wanat will work closely with Tom Fitzgerald, who heads up its broking executive committee, to ensure the US operation is aligned with others across the globe.

“Building a coordinated broking organisation – one that drives value to clients, and leads the industry with innovation, thought leadership and data and analytics – is the pinnacle of our best-in-class broking strategy,” said Lori Goltermann, Aon’s CEO of commercial risk and health.

“The experience and leadership Brian brings to the table will undoubtedly bring this strategy to life, and drive innovation and the use of data and analytics to achieve results for clients.”

Before joining Aon’s financial services group in 2002, Wanat spent at CNA and US insurance giant AIG.
